About Sap Overflow

Sap Overflow, Spell, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Whispers from the Maze.

Sap Overflow best fits slower Axiom midrange or control decks that can afford to spend 4 mana on unconditional removal, particularly when eliminating a large Character, denying a strong Reserve replay, or clearing the expedition that matters most is worth more than developing another body; it is less attractive in aggressive Brassbug or tempo lists because it provides no expedition statistics and, due to Fleeting, cannot be reused. Cheaper interaction such as Off You Go! is generally more efficient against low-cost Characters, while Sabotage effects are better when you only need to disrupt Reserve, but neither is strictly better because Sap Overflow can permanently answer virtually any Character regardless of cost or location. It should see play as roughly one or two copies in control-oriented decks or removal-heavy metagames, but it is usually a sideboard/meta choice rather than an automatic inclusion, and aggressive decks should normally omit it.
