About Gargoyle
Gargoyle, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Skybound Odyssey.
Gargoyle fits an aggressive Ordis tempo deck that wants to force an expedition through terrain ties, especially alongside effects that make one expedition consistently contest the opponent while the other advances; Ascend is strongest when the deck can repeatedly engineer matched regions rather than simply overpower them. However, at 2 mana it is a narrow payoff: it does not improve your expedition’s statistics and only matters in a specific stalled board state, so more broadly useful low-cost Ordis characters that add reliable boosts, card advantage, or board interaction are generally preferable; without a particular Ascend/tie-focused game plan, Gargoyle is unlikely to merit play and is best treated as a situational one- or two-copy experiment rather than a staple.
