About Wyvern
Wyvern, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Skybound Odyssey.
Wyvern is best suited to tempo or control decks that can exploit the Reserve—especially decks built around triggering Reserve effects or repeatedly replaying cheap Characters—because its ability can disrupt a low-cost opposing Character while preserving your own board pressure; however, paying 4 mana for conditional removal is inefficient, and sending a Character to Reserve is usually less impactful than permanent removal or a stronger bounce effect. Better alternatives include `Breathe of Matter` for broader and more reliable Character interaction, `Aqua`-style bounce effects if your deck can capitalize on tempo, or direct removal such as `Aksumite Sandstorm` where available; Wyvern should generally not see play in competitive lists unless the metagame is dominated by powerful 1-cost Characters and your deck specifically benefits from Reserve synergies, since its narrow target restriction makes it a weak standalone card.
