The Shell, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Seeds of Unity.

The Shell is best in a Bravos deck built to exploit Reserve—particularly Kojo & Booda-style lists that want characters available there to play later—because it converts situational or poorly timed cards in hand into Reserve while replacing them immediately, improving selection without losing a card; it is much less attractive in straightforward aggressive Bravos decks, where a 2-cost character that does not directly add progress or interact with the opposing expedition can be too slow. Its effect is useful but fairly modest and requires both a card you are willing to bank and a reason to care about Reserve, so dedicated Reserve enablers/payoffs are generally preferable when available; however, The Shell is still a reasonable supporting play in that archetype rather than a staple, and I would not run it outside of a deck with meaningful Reserve synergies.
