The Shell, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Seeds of Unity.

The Shell best fits an Axiom reserve-focused midrange or control deck that wants to convert situational cards into immediate draws while keeping them available for later turns, especially when it has strong reserve payoffs or expensive cards it cannot use yet; however, paying three mana for a character whose ability requires spending its rest is a fairly slow rate, and putting a card in Reserve is usually filtering rather than true card advantage. In most Axiom lists, more proactive options such as `Foundry Armorer` or `Brassbug Hub` provide stronger board impact and better long-term value, while dedicated draw or reserve enablers are preferable if that is the deck’s primary plan. The Shell can see play as a one- or two-of in a deck specifically built around Reserve synergies, but it is not a generally competitive include and should usually be replaced by more efficient threats, draw effects, or reserve payoffs.
