Ostracize can be a useful card in a Black control deck looking to disrupt the opponent's hand and remove key threats. However, there are more efficient options like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek that offer additional flexibility or can target non-creature cards as well. Ostracize may have niche applications in certain metagames, but in general, it may not be the most optimal choice for competitive play.
