Moth Decoy fits a reserve-focused Yzmir midrange or token/Illusion deck that can reliably spare an exhausted Reserve card, turning it into a 3-mana flexible 2/2/2 body placed in the expedition where its statistics matter most; it is less attractive in aggressive lists that need immediate, efficient tempo or in control lists that cannot afford to exhaust Reserve options. At full cost, the rate is poor, so it should only be considered when the discount is consistently live and the deck benefits from Illusion/token synergies; otherwise, more independently powerful Yzmir plays such as Kadigiran Mage-Dancer or interaction like Off You Go! are generally better uses of the slot because they create stronger tempo swings or answer opposing threats. Moth Decoy is therefore a niche synergy card rather than a staple, and should see play only in a dedicated Reserve/Illusion shell with enough cheap Reserve cards that exhausting one is not a meaningful cost.
