Studious Acolyte belongs in a Yzmir control or combo deck built around a high density of expensive Spells—especially one that regularly plays from Reserve—because reducing several Base Cost 4+ Spells can generate meaningful long-term value; it is much less attractive in a normal midrange list or a deck whose Spells mostly cost three or less. However, the Acolyte is slow and conditional: spending two mana on a character that provides no immediate tempo is usually worse than playing a stronger character, card-draw engine, or direct cost/ramp effect, so it should only see play if your deck contains roughly 8–12 qualifying Spells and expects to exploit the discount multiple times. There is no universally better replacement without knowing the exact list, but in most Yzmir builds flexible card advantage and immediate board-impact cards are better; I would treat Studious Acolyte as a niche build-around rather than an automatic inclusion.
