Melantho best fits a control or midrange Axiom deck that wants to slow opponents by removing an important card from their Reserve, especially against lists built around replaying powerful Reserve cards or triggering Reserve-based effects; however, a two-cost card that merely trades itself for one opposing Reserve card is situational, so it is usually a sideboard or one-of option rather than an automatic inclusion. It is weaker than proactive Axiom cards such as Brassbug Hub when you need board presence, and weaker than true removal when you need to answer an active character, but there is no universally better Reserve-disruption card if your metagame specifically rewards Sabotage; play Melantho only if Reserve recursion is common, otherwise prioritize cards that affect the board immediately.
