Icarus best fits a Yzmir reserve-focused control or combo deck that regularly places valuable characters in Reserve and wants to reuse their effects, since its optional one-mana Scout deployment lets you bank it cheaply and its J ability can ready the entire Reserve for a powerful follow-up turn; however, outside that strategy it is fairly slow for a four-mana character and does little immediately, so it should not see widespread play. In most decks, cheaper and more proactive cards such as **A Fleeting Moment** or other low-cost Reserve-generation and readying effects are better because they provide value without requiring Icarus to survive or occupy a full four-mana slot, while dedicated Yzmir lists may prefer stronger tempo or removal tools unless they can consistently exploit several Reserve cards at once.
