Un mazo que se centra en controlar el tablero obligando a los oponentes a sacrificar criaturas o perder vida se beneficiaría al usar Killing Wave. Sin embargo, hay mejores alternativas como Damnation o Toxic Deluge, que ofrecen eliminaciones de tablero más eficientes sin dar a los oponentes la opción. Si bien Killing Wave puede ser situacional y potencialmente poderoso en las circunstancias adecuadas, es posible que no se juegue tanto en comparación con estas otras opciones en mazos competitivos de Magic: The Gathering.

First, the active player chooses whether to pay X life for each creature they control. Then each other player in turn order chooses for their creatures. Then each player pays life and sacrifices creatures at the same time. Players will know the decisions of players who chose before them.
