Thunderbird is best suited to an Ordis Ascension or stat-matching expedition deck that can reliably trigger Ascension and move an expedition forward, especially one using cards that boost or duplicate its relevant statistics; the conditional card draw gives the deck valuable consistency while advancing its primary game plan. However, its value is relatively low if you cannot guarantee a matched-stat Ascension, since a three-cost character that only sometimes replaces itself is inefficient. Dedicated draw or stronger Ascension enablers—such as Ordis cards that draw immediately or provide more reliable expedition advancement—will generally be better, while cards with flexible effects or lower costs are preferable in faster Ordis lists. Thunderbird should see play only in a focused Ascension build with dependable stat matching; it is not a strong standalone inclusion and is likely outclassed in generic Ordis decks.
