Grumpy Imp fits a Yzmir discard or hand-cycling deck that can reliably discard at least one card each turn, since it effectively converts the first discard into a boost and can become a cheap growing threat; however, it is too conditional for most Yzmir lists because it does little when you cannot discard, gains no additional boost while already boosted, and is vulnerable before generating value. Cards such as **Kitsune** are generally better low-cost Yzmir inclusions because they provide more immediate and reliable value, while **Yzmir Scholar** is preferable in spell-heavy decks; Grumpy Imp should see play only in a dedicated discard-focused build, not as a general-purpose card.
