About Galatea
Galatea, Character, first released in September 2026 in the set Seeds of Unity.
Galatea fits an Ordis contact/control deck that is happy to park one expedition in a contested region while pushing the other, since she becomes a sizeable two-boost body when an opponent meets her but pays for it by preventing that expedition’s Dusk advance; she is best alongside cards that reward being In Contact, make good use of boosts, or let you win the other expedition’s race. She is not a generic two-cost value card: decks trying to advance both expeditions every turn will often find Defender a major drawback, and a flexible two-cost character with immediate expedition stats is usually better outside that dedicated shell. There is no universally “better” replacement because Galatea’s combination of conditional boosts and Defender is role-specific, but she should see play as a situational inclusion—generally not a four-of staple—when your deck deliberately wants to contest and stall one lane.
