About Enhanced Prototype
Enhanced Prototype, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Whispers from the Maze.
Enhanced Prototype would mainly benefit a slow Bravos ramp or midrange deck that reliably creates spare counters and wants explosive turns with expensive characters, since turning one counter into two ready Mana Orbs can enable a strong tempo swing; it is much less attractive in aggressive Bravos lists, which generally cannot afford to spend five mana on setup. The card is conditional, however: it requires both a counter and a card worth readying, so its value is poor when drawn early or without counter generation. In most decks, **Mana Channeling** is the better option because it provides mana acceleration more consistently and without depending on counters, while cards that advance your board immediately are usually preferable at five mana. Enhanced Prototype should see play only in a dedicated counter-heavy ramp or combo list; it is not a generally efficient staple.
