About Enhanced Prototype
Enhanced Prototype, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Whispers from the Maze.
Enhanced Prototype would mainly benefit a counter-focused combo or engine deck that can generate, preserve, and repeatedly exploit counters on cards in play or in Reserve—especially a deck that uses Mana Orbs to cast expensive threats, chain multiple actions, or convert temporary bursts of mana into a win; however, at five altered-axiom it is likely too slow and conditional for ordinary midrange or aggro decks, since it requires both a usable counter and a meaningful Mana Orb payoff. Without the complete card pool, I cannot name a definitive superior card, but any cheaper card that readies two Mana Orbs without consuming a counter—or a card that produces more than two Orbs, creates counters, or provides immediate board impact—would generally be better and more consistent. Enhanced Prototype should see play only in dedicated counter-and-Mana-Orb combo shells or decks with reliable Reserve access; otherwise, its high cost and resource requirement make it a niche build-around rather than
