About Efrén, Puppet Master
Efrén, Puppet Master, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Whispers from the Maze.
Efrén, Puppet Master would fit best in a Lyra reserve-control or midrange deck that can exploit both outcomes—using the 4+ result to remove an opponent’s key card from Reserve while treating the 1–3 result as useful card access—but its five-cost investment and 50/50 outcome make it too inconsistent for most competitive lists; decks that specifically want to trigger or benefit from Resupply may have more reason to test it, yet even there it is usually weaker than cheaper, guaranteed Reserve-manipulation cards such as **Lyra Festival** or dedicated Sabotage effects, which provide value without relying on a die roll. Overall, Efrén should generally not see play outside of casual builds, thematic Puppet Master decks, or a metagame heavily dependent on powerful Reserve cards.
