About Shiva
Shiva, Character, first released in September 2026 in the set Skybound Odyssey.
Shiva best fits a Yzmir control or midrange deck that can exploit its flexibility: it can answer an opposing Permanent when that matters, or otherwise provide two boosts, which is particularly useful in boost-focused lists that want to pressure expeditions while retaining interaction. However, at four mana it is somewhat expensive and its value depends heavily on the opponent having a worthwhile Permanent, so dedicated removal such as **Banishing Gate** is generally better when you primarily need reliable character removal, while Shiva is better as a flexible meta call against decks built around powerful landmarks and other Permanents. It should see play as a situational one- or two-of in Yzmir control/boost shells, but it is unlikely to be a universal staple or a card you build around by itself.
