About Sap Extractor
Sap Extractor, Landmark permanent, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Whispers from the Maze.
Sap Extractor is best in a slower Axiom counter/Reserve deck that expects games to last several Noon steps and can exploit repeated Augments on cards it plans to play later, especially cards that already enter with or benefit from counters; it is much less attractive in an aggressive list that needs immediate expedition stats or tempo. There is no universally “better” replacement, because its value is specifically the repeatable, flexible counter generation from either play or Reserve, but in decks without counter synergies, any cheaper character or permanent that immediately advances an expedition is effectively better than this slow engine. It should see play as a one- or two-copy utility landmark in dedicated Axiom augmentation/counter builds, but not as an automatic staple in every Axiom deck.
