Enhanced Prototype, Character, designed by None first released in September 2026 in the set Whispers from the Maze.

Enhanced Prototype is best suited to an Axiom ramp, control, or combo deck that can reliably place boosts on it and convert extra Mana Orbs into a large mid-to-late-game turn; however, at five mana it is a slow investment, and spending a boost for only two readied Orbs is merely efficient rather than exceptional unless your deck has strong boost generation or a powerful way to exploit burst mana. In most Axiom lists, cheaper and more immediately useful ramp or resource cards such as Mana Channeling are better because they do not require a fragile character to survive and be boosted first, while dedicated boost engines are also preferable if your plan is to generate value over several turns. Enhanced Prototype should therefore see play only in a boost-focused Axiom deck built around repeated resource acceleration or combo turns; it is not a generally desirable inclusion in ordinary midrange or tempo decks.
