About Dapeng
Dapeng, Character, first released in September 2026 in the set Seeds of Unity.
Dapeng is best suited to a Lyra midrange or control deck that wants to establish a durable, high-value character and force the opponent to spend extra resources removing it, especially when you can already protect it with boosts or defensive effects; however, Tough 1 is only a tax rather than true protection, so a 3-Lyra character that provides immediate board impact, stronger statistics, or card advantage—such as a comparable Lyra three-cost threat with an enter-play or expedition ability—will usually be better, and I would not consider Dapeng an automatic competitive inclusion without unusually strong base statistics or a valuable secondary ability. It should see play only in a slower list built around protecting key characters; in general, prioritize proactive characters and removal-resistant cards that generate value immediately, because opponents can often simply ignore Dapeng, develop elsewhere, or pay the extra Lyra.
