About Cleanse
Cleanse, Spell, first released in September 2026 in the set Roots of Corruption.
Cleanse is best suited to a Muna control or tempo deck that can exploit Reserve—especially one built around replaying its own characters, triggering Reserve effects, or slowing an opponent while developing its board—but the random die roll makes it unreliable: it only affects characters costing 1–3 half the time, reaches cost 4–6 on the other half, and does not permanently remove the target. In most lists, more dependable interaction such as `Banishing Gate` is better because it can send a character to Reserve without gambling on the roll, while cheaper targeted answers are preferable when you only need to handle low-cost characters. Cleanse could see play as a flexible meta call against decks full of expensive characters or as a casual Reserve-synergy card, but unless your deck specifically benefits from the randomness and temporary bounce, it is generally too inconsistent to justify a competitive slot.
