Brainwash is best in a Yzmir control or midrange deck that can reliably place cheap characters into Reserve and exploit a temporary extra body—especially a list built around Reserve manipulation, Expedition tempo, and high-value enters-play effects—because it can either replay your own character for free or steal an opponent’s Reserve character for immediate progress; however, the four-mana cost, Fleeting restriction, Reserve Cost 2-or-less condition, and dependence on the opponent having a useful target make it inconsistent. For reliable tempo, cheaper interaction such as `Bamboozle` is generally better because it does not require you to spend four mana on a situational play, while normal character deployment is preferable when you need lasting board presence; Brainwash should therefore be a niche one-copy or sideboard-style inclusion in a Reserve-focused Yzmir deck, but it is not a staple and should not see broad competitive play unless the metagame is unusually full of strong low-co
