Mandjet is best in an aggressive or tempo-oriented Ordis deck that consistently puts enough power into one Expedition to win regions but is vulnerable to being stalled when the opposing Expedition matches its terrain; Ascend turns those otherwise tied terrain situations into progress, so it is most valuable for decks trying to snowball an early lead rather than grind value over many turns. It is not a broadly mandatory card, though: its effect is situational, it costs 2 to deploy, and it only matters when terrain matching would actually stop an Expedition, so more proactive cards that add power, bodies, or direct advancement will usually be stronger in a generic Ordis list. There is no strictly better one-for-one replacement for Mandjet’s repeatable Ascend effect, but unless your local metagame frequently creates terrain-matched stalls—or your list specifically needs a way to force one key Expedition through—it should generally remain a niche inclusion rather than a staple.
