Corrupted Gargoyle is best in proactive Ordis decks that flood both Expeditions early—especially token, Recruit, or otherwise board-wide strategies—because it becomes a cheap permanent body plus an Ascend effect once you already have a Character in each Expedition; in a deck that often leaves one side empty, its Fleeting clause makes it much less appealing. It is not an automatic staple: it is strongest as a tempo tool for converting a developed board into extra progress, but weak when played from behind or into removal. There is not necessarily a strict one-for-one “better” card, since its combination of a 2-cost Character and targeted Ascend is specific, but more independently powerful Ordis characters that provide immediate board presence or value without requiring both Expeditions to be occupied are generally preferable in midrange or reactive builds; play Gargoyle mainly in dedicated wide, expedition-focused lists, likely as a small complement rather than a full playset unless Asc
