Sustenance best fits a deck that can exploit the extra Mana Orb ahead of its opponent, especially a high-curve list looking to deploy expensive plays early or one that benefits from placing cards into its Mana zone, while its cantrip effect keeps the card from costing hand size; however, because it is Fleeting and ramps both players equally, it is generally a weak tempo play unless your deck converts that mana advantage immediately or asymmetrically. More targeted ramp, card selection, or disruption options are usually preferable when available, since they advance your own plan without accelerating the opponent, so Sustenance should be a niche inclusion rather than a staple: play it only in dedicated ramp/payoff decks with meaningful four-plus-cost turns, and avoid it in ordinary midrange, aggro, or control decks where giving the opponent mana is more dangerous than useful.
