Evanescence fits best in a Yzmir control or spell-heavy midrange deck that reliably builds Arcane Counters, since it provides efficient temporary removal against expensive Characters while exhausting them so they cannot immediately be replayed or provide Support; it is especially useful for disrupting an opponent’s key threat, but less valuable in aggressive decks that want permanent removal or immediate board development. It is generally weaker than unconditional answers such as **Banishing Gate** when you need a lasting solution, and weaker than **Off You Go!** or similar low-cost Reserve effects when you only need reliable early tempo, so Evanescence should see play mainly if your deck consistently reaches several Arcane Counters and expects high-cost targets; otherwise, use a more dependable removal or tempo card.
