Ordis Counterspy is best in an Ordis–Yzmir control or midrange deck that can reliably move it between hand and Reserve, since its hand ability is strongest against decks that deliberately stock their Reserve with powerful cards, while its Reserve ability provides a cheap Soldier body for expedition pressure; however, paying three mana for an effect that is symmetrical and situational is a significant cost, and the opponent can often keep their single best Reserve card, making the discard mode less impressive unless your deck also has Reserve manipulation or the metagame heavily relies on Reserve value. In most decks, more proactive cards such as Ordis Recruit generators, efficient expedition characters, or dedicated Reserve-disruption options are better because they provide immediate board presence or more reliable card advantage, so Counterspy should generally not see regular play; it is a niche sideboard-style choice for a slow Ordis–Yzmir list specifically targeting Reserve-dependen
