Janus fits a Yzmir discard-focused midrange deck, especially one that routinely cycles cards from both hand and Reserve for value, since each discard turns it into a progressively larger threat; it is best alongside cheap discard outlets and effects that replace or otherwise profit from the discarded cards, rather than in a normal Yzmir control list that cannot trigger it consistently. Its weakness is that five mana and Gigantic make it a slow, single-expedition investment, and it does nothing immediately unless you already have a way to discard, so more independently powerful five-cost characters or cheaper threats with immediate control/value effects are generally preferable outside that dedicated shell. Janus is therefore a playable synergy card rather than a format staple: run it only if your deck can reliably trigger it multiple times, ideally on the turn it enters or shortly afterward, and otherwise choose a more self-sufficient finisher.
