Gargoyle best fits proactive Ordis midrange or tempo decks that want to force an expedition forward at exactly the right moment—especially lists that can reliably win or contest the following day on that side, since its value is primarily in converting board control into progress rather than generating raw stats or cards. It is less appealing in reactive control decks and in builds that cannot capitalize immediately on the advanced expedition, because spending 2 mana for no permanent body or card advantage can be a real cost. Whether it is “better” than alternatives depends on the list, but more broadly useful Ordis cards that develop a body, create multiple expeditions’ worth of pressure, or provide lasting support will usually be preferable in a vacuum; Gargoyle is a tactical finisher/tempo slot rather than an automatic staple. It should see play as a small number of copies in decks specifically built to exploit advance timing, but it is unlikely to deserve inclusion just as generic
