Delay the Collapse best fits a slow Axiom Landmark or control deck that can reliably accumulate high-Hand-Cost permanents—especially builds using several expensive Landmarks and cards that protect or recur them—because the Aerolith token helps develop your Landmark zone while the completion condition rewards committing to that strategy. However, it is fairly conditional: spending two mana for setup is weak if you cannot reach six total Hand Cost quickly, and it does not directly improve your board, hand, or tempo enough for aggressive Axiom lists. Cards such as `Brassbug Hub` or `Mana Channeling` are generally better immediate Landmark investments because they provide more consistent value without requiring a large Landmark package, while `The Ouroboros` is a stronger payoff if your deck is specifically built around expensive permanents and long games.
